Couples Therapy

Couples most often enter therapy when they are in crisis or at an impasse. Misunderstandings and disagreements about sex, money, and parenting can disrupt our relationships and seed resentment and hurt. Life adjustments and changes, affairs and/or addiction issues can further add stress. The relationship can break down and become a source of pain versus a source of support.

Much like a car, a good couple needs maintenance, and sometimes repair, to keep it running effectively. Self-awareness and good communication can become a path to increased closeness and satisfaction with our partners. Couples therapy is an opportunity to interrupt negative communication patterns, understand ourselves and our partner better, and to improve intimacy.

Approach for Couples

Originally trained as a systemic Marriage and Family Therapist, I help couples to look at their interactive couple dynamic in a holistic manner. Although a couple is formed from two individuals, my stance is to look at the systemic dynamic of what is working and what could be improved as a collaborative team. I am committed to providing a safe and confidential space to explore the themes that are important to your particular coupling whether straight, LGBTQ, mixed-race, bi-cultural, young, old, living together, engaged or married.
